Monday Night we lost a member of the Vintage Vibe team. Head electronics tech Greg Hodowanec passed away and he will surely be missed. He was a great man and an expert technician, luckily the knowledge he has shared with us and many techs and players around the world will live on and we are truly grateful for that. New Shop

Well it's been a crazy couple of weeks, but we are now in a new shop located in Rockaway, NJ. We completely out grew the old one so it's good having the extra space. We will be showing pictures and video of the new place on our flickr and youtube pages soon so keep an eye out for that.

In the mean time we are keeping busy repairing and restoring pianos. We are also working hard on a super secret project that will be unveiled by the end of the year - it will be guaranteed to knock your socks off so get excited for that!

Restorations

We are finishing up on a large number of restoration we have been working on. In the last month we have worked on a Fender Rhodes from many different years - 66,69,70,71,72,73,76,79 and even the new Mark 7. We also did a repair on an 88 key suitcase that used to belong to Yoko Ono's producer. While most of those pianos are spoken for we do have a beautiful white Wurlitzer 140B for sale on eBay that looks and sounds absolutely wonderful. We're staying very busy here at Vintage Vibe with repairs as well as a top secret project we have going on.

We have a couple vintage items on eBay at the moment including a Roland Jet Phaser (which is the same pedal used on "Who's that lady?" by the Isley Brothers.

2009: Year In Review

2009 was a crazy year for everyone in terms of the economy, job stability and an over all fear of the unknown which consumed most everyone. We are so very grateful for the clients that have chosen to spend their money with Vintage Vibe, we know it means a lot to you and it certainly means a lot to us.

Luckily we are still growing as a company even in these uncertain times. We have been trying our hardest to be on the cutting edge and push ahead while not resting on our laurels. We will have some great new products for everyone this year which will ensure the future of these pianos.

Speaking of ensuring the future of these pianos, we have spent an incredible amount of time offering our free video tips on youtube.com for everyone to learn from. This is one way Vintage Vibe is keeping these great electric pianos alive and kicking. As long as there are people learning this craft, they will never die. We also will be there to offer our excellent quality parts to everyone.

We have had so many great customers this year who have trusted us with their piano. I can honestly say it was a great learning experience for us and that you never stop learning with every step you take.

We did major work for Steely Dan this year for their world tour; we completely refurbished 3 of Donald Fagen's 88 Suitcase Pianos. One was a Fender Rhodes and the other two were Rhodes pianos. We did our best and the finished products were spectacular. We spent 3 full weeks on these pianos with 3 techs on each one. We also did a Wurlitzer 146 and a Clavinet D6 for Donald.
Norah Jones had brought us her Wurlitzer 206 in for repair and it very much needed it; we rebuilt it and then custom built her 3 sustain pedals with extra long cables so she could stand up and play. You can see these on her David Letterman performance on youtube.com

Ani Difranco trusted us with here Wurlitzer 200A for her tour and then invited us to her Philadelphia Electric Factory show as well as her NYC Town Hall show. We spent a day up at the Conan O'Brian show with Canada's great Chromeo; that was really fun. Let's see...off the top of my head we met some great new clients- Man Man, Nate Walcott of Bright Eyes, Phish, Duncan Sheik, and so many more.

This year Vintage Vibe has adopted a policy of giving back. Children's charities are close to my heart as there is nothing more innocent than a child. To see or hear of a child that is suffering just rips my heart out. This is why Vintage Vibe gives every month (as well as the profits from our Rhodes Repair Video) to two Charities, one being the Hole in the Wall Camp, which was started by Paul Newman and offers, free of charge, the experience of a lifetime for seriously or terminally ill children. They are invited to sleep over the camp with a medical facility at hand. Most of these kids would never have this opportunity without this wonderful charity. Please look into it for yourself. Another is the famous St. Jude's children hospital and they are on the forefront of cancer treatment and no child is ever denied due to money.

We truely believe in order to be rich or fulfilled you need to give; even if you only have 2 pennies, give one away. It will come back to you ten fold. Just go out and give freely and see how it feels!

We have been very busy the last few months working on a very special project. Be sure to look forward to that in the near future, we are all very excited about it.

On another note, we have sold out of the first 1000 of our new Wurlitzer reeds in 6 months time. We had nothing but positive responce about these reeds which we are extremly pleased about. We are waiting for our new batch now from our Manufacturer.

We are constantly manufacturing new parts for these old keyboards, this helps preserve old ones from becoming parts pianos. This also allows us to keep our prices down but manufacturing in quantity.

We just did more Work for Norah Jones for her upcoming promotions and world tour, we refurbished her Wurlitzer 206. We also custom made her 3 new Wurlitzer sustain pedals.
We also just refurbished a Wurlitzer 200A for Ani DiFranco for her current tour, they were very pleased with the piano as it had not been keeping up very well.

All I can say is thanks to all of our friends and customers that make it all happen here at Vintage Vibe. We are busting to tell everyone what we are up to but we have to keep it in the bag until it is unveiled.

Restorations

We have a few piano restorations for sale. Recently we sold a Hohner Clavinet Pianet Duo, a Rhodes 1974 88 key stage piano, a Fender Rhodes 1972, a Wurlitzer 200A, among others but we still have a nice stock of great vintage instruments.

We have two 1966 silver sparkle top Fender Rhodes suitcase pianos which are excellent pianos. We have a 1972 Fender Rhodes Mark I suitcase as well.

There are a few different Wurlitzers in stock including two 112's, a 140B, and a couple 200s (one comes with an original Wurlitzer hard case) and 200As. These won't last long so be sure to get them while you still can.

Yes it has been a while since our last post. Summer has kept us very busy with touring season at hand. We are even busier now that the fall season is approaching and customers are looking to stock up as well as customers looking to buy that perfect gift.

We have been eagerly awaiting our new products we have been manufacturing this past summer.
Tone bar grommets like the originals
Tone Bar screws nickel plated like the old Fender Rhodes pianos, with the nice shoulder under the head of the screw for allowing the tone bar to pop.
New "Relic" Hammer Tips made firmer for a better attack and articulation
We have designed a replacement Damper arm for the fender Rhodes single strip damper pianos. These will replace the old worn out dampers. Very Much needed item.

We have made another batch of our Pratt and reed Synthesizer key bushings

Hohner Clavinet hammmer tips just like the originals " Orange"

We are keeping a big secret to ourselves but we have plans for something pretty major to happen.

Haven't posted in awhile - it's been pretty busy here at the shop.

We have a few new keyboards that will be for sale soon. We'll have a Wurlitzer 200A, A Fender Rhodes 1972 Stage, a Fender Rhodes 1972 Suitcase, a 1966 Silver Sparkle Top Suitcase, and a Vox continental organ.

We recently just finished a big project of getting three Suitcase Rhodes 88 for a tour.

The shop is still full of repairs including a rare Wurlitzer 106 piano as well as a Fender Rhodes 49 note Silver Sparkle top. Farfisa Organs and Etc.

We have added a Farfisa section to the website and we are starting to sell more Farfisa parts. We've been doing Farfisa repairs for awhile, but now we will be selling individuall components as well as restored organs in the near future.

Our Wurlitzer reeds have been a success among customers and are selling well. They really are a perfect recreation of the original.

Also, our new back check mods are available and have been a much needed addition to many pianos.

There are only two of our Wurlitzer 200As in stock so don't miss your chance. These are the nicest we've seen and we don't know when we will come across more like it. We also have a Wurlitzer 200 for sale as well as a 140B.

We have sold the Fender Rhodes pianos we have had in stock but will have more in the future.

Wurlitzer Reeds

Vintage Vibe is excited to announce that we are the first to recreate a clone of the original Wurlitzer factory reed. These are as good as the original reeds or better. Sonically, visually they are identical to the original Wurlitzer factory reeds. They are fashioned after the 200A style reeds and side by side with the originals no one could tell the difference - in person or on record. These reeds will not break like past reproduction reeds made by us and other companies. These are the reeds of the future, when the original Wurlitzer factory reeds are gone our reeds will keep these instruments alive. These will be the new standard reeds and can be replaced with any original for equal tone, level and longevity.

April is here and the shop is full of repairs. We have a couple Hohner Clavinets in for repair, a Wurlitzer 140B, a Farfisa, and a couple Vox organs among other things.

We've sold a few of the Wurlitzer 200As but still have some left. We have a few Rhodes for sale still- A Rhodes 1977, two suitcase Fender Rhodes 1971 s, and Fender Rhodes 1972 Stage/Suitcase Top. We have samples of all the pianos being played on our youtube page, www.vintagevibe.com/vintagevibekeyboards. These are all excellent keyboards so don't miss out on owning one.

There will be a few new items we will be offering soon and we will let you all know once it is completed, but we are all pretty excited about it.

Wurlitzer electric Piano student model lot

We have been very fortunate to have come across 10 of the most clean well preserved 206A student models in the land. They spent their entire life in a quiet college classroom pampered. You cannot go out and find clean action and keys like this. Once we have transformed these into Wurlitzer 200A piano's there will be 10 lucky people who will get to own one each. This will be a life long wurlitzer for these people. I personally see Wurlitzers everyday and these are some of the finest I have seen in years.

We have been hard at work restoration a batch of old Wurlitzer Student Models that we got in recently. We are currently at the tuning process and hopefully they will be up for sale in a couple weeks.

We are editing a new Farfisa video which will be available in a week or two. It covers a variety of problems on several different Farfisa models and should have all the info you'd need to repair one yourself.

We got a batch of old Wurlitzer student models in last week, and we've been restoring them. They came in looking pretty bad, but they clean up nicely. They will be up for sale sometime soon, so check back on that.

We are working on a new Clavinet D6 pre amp, and have new custom Clavinet Transformers.

We'd like to start giving you all a look into what we do here every day.

For starters we have some new products:

Today we worked on a custom job with sparkle tolex, trying a few new things to make it interesting.

We finished up a Mark II Suitcase repair and restoartion for a customer today.

We are almost done with a 1969 Suitcase refurb for another customer. This piano is a prototype year because there are a few not so common parts to it. It came with all felt hammers, but no the tear drop kind.

Our head tech is working on the electronics for a rare Hohner Pianet L, which is having output issues.

We sold the last batch of our custom Wurlitzer pedals and are working on a new batch with a more improved designed. Keep an eye out for those in the future!
